Sidecars go into competition mode !

Several weeks ago DG Sport announced that the Bikers'Classics will now take place every other year, the 2020 vintage is already causing a certain craze, the candidates for the different track sessions rushing to the gate via the site www.bikersclassics.be, tab 'Participants', then 'Registration'.

While the major theme of this eagerly awaited new edition has not yet been revealed and discussions are continuing to once again attract big stars to the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit ;  on the competition side, success has already been achieved. With of course at the top of the poster the 4 Hours of Spa Classic, a round of the FIM Europe Endurance Classic Cup.

Add to that the different series already present last summer (and even before that), like the Belgian Classic Grand Prix, ProClassic and IG Königsklasse, the latter being back for the second time. And that's not all…

The last two years, the sidecar fans were treated to track sessions reserved especially for them, but this year, the Camathias Cup - The European Classic Sidecar Championship, features among the competitions on the Bikers'Classics poster ! In a nutshell: the European championship for classic 'sides' ! The name of the championship refers to Florian Camathias, professional Swiss sidecar driver, who among other things won the Isle of Man TT, and who died at the age of 41 on the Brands-Hatch track.

During the season, the Camathias Cup frequents 8 European circuits, Grand Prix tracks as well as road tracks. Given the interest in these strange three-wheeled vehicles at the Bikers’Classics, the presence of this competition can be considered a great recognition.

So the public can expect a grand spectacle, with among the favourites the defending title champions of the + 750cc category, Eddy Wright and Kieran Clarke, on their BMW 1040cc. However, we can bet that the possibility of playing on this legendary slide will increase the motivation of others.

Sidecar fans, ‘The Bikers’Classics’ will be more than ever the place to be from July 3 to 5…
